system.. I will replace wires,plugs etc. I also will replace the dist cap and rotor and sensor wheel. my question is there any probs with changing rotor

I have tried to install a lited switch with a bilge pump that also has a auto float switch connected to it. when i hit the manual switch it bows the fuses. if i disconnect the ground to the lite part of the switch everything works well. have checked to make sure the grounds and power are not...
there are four wires coming from the control, am i safe to say the red is for hour meter, black ground, green tach and yellow (??). want to put a combination RPM/hour merer on it.
