Have had problem with the motor not going into gear as mentioned in previous post, and a friend suggested checking the lower unit oil. opened the drain and vent this evening and nothing came out. So attached the pump and filled and noticed a crack about two inches long just behind the water...
i have a 71 or 72 Mercury 20HP tiller handle with the gear lever on the side. Went out yesterday and there is no forward or reverse. when the motor isn't running it seems to go into gear but nothing when its running. Please any advise will be greatly appreciated.
