    What is the normal operating temps for a chevy 305 on a mercruiser 898 circa 1978? it is on a 78 Mark Twain V-sonic.It hasnt overheated yet, but it seems like it runs a little hot.

    no idle

    my 73 merc 650 3 cyl wont start unless the idle arm is up at about 11-12 o'clock. to put it in gear i have to drop the idle and move the throttle arm. no forcefulness, just drop 1 and advance the other. At wide open she runs like a dream but she wont idle without that arm up. I have rebuilt...

    another peehole question

    I ran my 73 merc 650 in a 55 gallon drum and had a STRONG stream coming thru the peehole, when i putit in the lake i get a weak dribble, occasional spurt, but the engine does not overheat. Should I be worried?

    manual tilt lock?

    my 73 merc 650 is stuck in the down position with the shifter in neutral. my understanding is that you have to turn the prop to shift to forward to get the tilt lock released. if this is right, which way do i turn the prop. looking from the back to front?<br /><br />You guys are GREAT!!!!!!!!!!11

    Timing Disc?

    The mechanic just called.....says I need a new rotor and a timing disc......i am unfamiliar with the timing disc and cant seem to find one. <br />i did find the rotor on grubbs. Is there anywhere i can look and find a timing disc online or by phone for a 1973 merc 650 65hp SN#3511669? HELP

    timing help

    merc 650/ 3 cylinder............mechanic says that something in the engine is wrong(part) and cant get it timed right............says it is at least 100deg off.....please help.....what part or condition could make it like this?????<br />thx in advance

    impeller

    The impeller was replaced on my 73/merc 650/65hp by my grandpa right before it was given to me.......now when the throttle is in neutral the prop turns CW with a clicking sound and CCW moves the powerhead.......did he put the lower unit on wrong? or could it be something inside the throttle control?
