    It sounds like the pack is possibly beginning to fail. It’s not uncommon for them to work while cool and start to fail as they heat up during use. Turn them off and let it cool and it suddenly works again for a bit. Have you checked voltage to the system?

    I figured this old gal out. Whoever worked on it last had the ignition packs wired wrong. They had cylinder one and four crossed up and three and two crossed up. Basically it was trying to run on two. I pulled up a diagram off of the net and switched the wires to where they belonged and like...

    S Since you have twins swap out the PCM’s from side to side and see if the problem goes to the other engine. If it does then replace the PCM.

    I’m trying to help out a buddy with an old 1983 model 200 HP Merc. It only appears to be running on three cylinders. Can someone here help me with the procedure of checking the stator and the ignition boxes? It’s been way too long since I worked on one of these old girls. Thanks,
