I'm in Toronto...engine runs great but gearcase leaks and bolts holding lower half of gearcase onto upper half leak. Would be a shame to scrap this thing
Question for the knowledgeable here...
Will the gear case for a 33 HP Johnson fit for a 1963 Johnson 40 HP? I had thought it would as I see lists the same part number for each, however I have been told the 33HP has no thermostat so they are not compatible
Thanks in advance!
Really stuck upper crank seal. I don't have a puller so I drilled very small hole in the seal and threaded course screws into them. All its doing is tearing the metal on the seal.
Any suggestions?
Thx
So I am slowly bringing this motor back to life.
Compression checks out at 100 psi on each cylinder so good on that front. Decided to look at the oil in the gear case before I went ahead much further.
The motor has not been run for about 8 years now. Been through several freeze and thaws in...
I'm not terribly hopeful that anyone will know this but... does anyone know the thread size for the three bolts holding the ratchet onto the flywheel for this motor?
I ask because it was missing. I bought the ratchet and the three bolts and although the ratchet fits, the bolts will not thread...
I've never pulled a flywheel before and hence I don't which type of puller I should buy. Options are the three jaw puller or the harmonic balance set up with the three screws.
What the difference? Pros and cons of each?
Also if the three jaw is an option what size should I get? they seem to...
Hi all,
I've never rewired a boat for electric start and lights so I'm wondering couple of things:
1) What are the best connectors to use? Obviously the ignition switch and lights connectors will be predetermined but what about at the connection to the harness from the outboard?
2) Where can...
So bought an old boat motor combo dirt cheap. All in good shape. Motor is complete.
I need a battery for the outboard and having never had one with electric start I have no knowledge on the topic. So here come the questions:
1) what are the differences between marine and automotive battery...
So I bought the package above from a friend who was selling his dad's cottage as he had passed away.
Boat is weathered but solid. Trailer rusty but works very well and tows smooth as silk. Motor looks weathered but he claims Dad was a maintenance freak and that it run well when professionally...
