Ive got a 1652 MV lund with a 1985 merc 50horse. I went from a 11 1/4 10p prop to a 10 3/8 13p prop and speed never changed. I used to have a 1977 evin 25horse with a 9 1/4 11p prop and it ran the same speed as my 50 i now have-30mph. Does that make any sense?

Ive got a 1985 50hp merc that wont stay running. It starts but after about 3 seconds dies. I cant choke it or anything to keep it running, it just starts and dies. I have no clue where to start seeing as i dont know much about outboards. Thanks for any help in advance.
Can I charge my battery by plugging the charger into it? If so do i have to wire it directally to the battery, or can i run it through a buss bar along with all all my acc.? Its my deep cell and is not connected to the motor,so gets no charge from it.
