I have a 91 Mercruiser that has a rod peaking out of the oil pan. I was planning to rebuild the engine, but I found a 01 GM engine for sale really good price.
I do know I would need to change the freeze plugs, and head gasket seeing that we would be using it in salt water, and replace...
I am mainly looking for internal parts, I know i need a piston, rod and oil pan and maybe a crank... (We wont talk about why). Also thinking about changing the fuel pump, oil pump etc. If i am going to rebuild the engine might as well.
I do know the cam is different, and it has different freeze...
I know the Mercruiser engines are GM blocks with some slight changes. So i just want to make sure there is nothing wrong with getting parts from the same model year auto engine. I know the Chevy S10 has a 4.3l option, so can i get parts from a 1990 Chevy S10 and they will work without an issue...
