I admit, it's been a while since a tune up. However, again, it runs perfectly most of the time. The problem only presents itself after it sits in the water awhile after speeding around, then putting it into gear. Then it's only a minute of easing the throttle up, and it's perfect again.
I have drained the fuel tank and replaced the filter. I have not checked the fuel pressure, not sure where to tap a gauge in. It just seems that if I had a pressure problem it wouldn't run perfectly, as it does mostly.
I have a 2003 4/3 MPI with Alpa 1 Gen 2.
My boat runs fine in the street on the muffs.
It starts fine and idles well.
I can get up on plane and it runs strong and fast.
After running for a while, and shutting down to sit for a while, it starts fine. SOMETIMES, after running/sitting/starting...
I have a Tahoe Q5 (18' open bow runabout) with a 220hp 4.3L MPI Mercruiser. I have two teenagers that wakeboard and water ski. My boat has a good top end speed but has trouble getting out of the hole. I had an aluminum 3 blade 21 pitch prop and went to a steel 3 blade 19 pitch. I saw no...
I have a 2002 Mercruiser 4.3 220hp I/O. There is no hour meter on the boat which seems odd to me. I thought I heard somewhere that somewhere in the electronics of the engine control, the hours are recorded. Has anyone heard of this? Is there a way to extract the hour information from the engine...
I have a 2002 4.3L MPI 220hp in my boat, and I want to try different props to improve my hole shot. I found some Merc props used online, but don"t know it they will fit.
The numbers are:

How do I know?
I'm looking for a used boat and my feeling is that I want a mercruiser V8. What are the down sides to getting a V8 over a V6. obviously the V8 has more power, but is it louder? Any advice on the proper engine size? I have kids that are going to be learning how to ski/wakeboard.
What are the...
I noticed that in my OMC 3.0L the cam lobes are not centered under the lifters. The fuel pump cam is centered on the fuel pump plunger. The camshaft journals look like they are centered in the bearings correctly. Is this correct, or should the cam lobes be dead center under the lifters?
I've been trying to get my OMC 3.0L engine to run smooth after a rebuild. New pistons new wrist pins. I am searching for excess engine noise, and have noticed something that I need to know if it is a problem.
When placing the pistons on the bench with the connecting rod up, two of the rods move...
No it's not as simple as that. I have a 1989 3.0L OMC. I rebuilt the engine with all new parts. I had trouble getting it running, but finally got it to idle. However it's noisy. It knocks, and I'm thinking it is the lifters. (it is a knock and not the clack you hear when the rockers need to be...
I have a 1989 Bayliner Capri, with an OMC 3.0L. I recently rebuilt the engine and came across something that I thought wouldn't be a problem, but I want confirmation from someone who has seen this before. When I had my crank machined I bought the bearing set from the shop that did the machine...
I have a 1989 OMC 3.0 (GM), sterndrive. I just rebuilt the engine. I have been having a tough time gettting the valves adjusted, but made progress by adjusting them with the engine running. I've taken it out twice, the first time I didn't have the shift cable adjusted correctly so I had shift...
