    1985 15hp Prop Pitch Question

    Hi, I bought a 1985 15 Hp Evinrude used and it came with a 9.5" x 10" prop. I am using the motor on a 12' Livingston with a total weight of about 800# with kids, fishing gear, beer, etc. The motor doesn't seem to "rev" up like it should. Using a portable tach the engine will only rev to 4500...

    1985 Evinrude 15HP. What is a good two cycle mix oil to use? Are there any brands and/or types that should be avoided? Thanks in advance.

    Two Cycle Mix Question

    Hi, I just bought a 1985 Evinrude 15 HP outboard and the attached tag specifies 100:1 fuel oil mix ratio. A couple of outboard repair shops have told me to run it at 50:1 however. Will this cause fouling of spark plugs, excess carbon build up etc? Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

    Is this price fair?

    I am looking at an Evinrude 9.5 HP motor for $450. It is a 1969 that has supposedly been freshened up and new piston rings. Is this a good buy or should I look for a later model for more $$? Thanks in advance.
