    Need to increase idle speed

    I have a early 80's 70hp Johnson and need to increase the idle speed. When shifiting from neutral to forward or reverse motor dies unless throttle is moved forward quickly to up engine speed. It used to idle fine until this year. How do I slightly increase idle speed in forward?

    1988 Mariner 115 on Cajun Motorcrafter

    Looking at this motor the seller says the carbs were recently rejetted. Is this good? Does this make of motor have a good history? Boat is missing a tach(empty hole in dash left of steering). Is an OEM tach required or will aftermarket work and fit in existing hole?

    What's the knob on OMC shifter below key?

    IOn a Grumman 16' aluminum with 70 hp Johnson and on the rear of the OMC shifter there is a knob below the key slot which turns left and right and I have no idea what it controls. Can anyone educate me?
