I just picked up a starcraft fm 160 with a 1982 50 hp merc. I did a compression check on it and all cyl. read at 70 lbs psi. I know this is low but why would all 4 cyls read the same? Ok I'm looking to unhook the shift rod. All I see is a screw tucked under the carbs and very hard to get to.Is the rod that long I'd say about 18 or so inches or is there something else. The book say I have to remove a pin there is no pin. Thanks for all our help

I think that's what it's called on a boat motor. Anyway I have a 1988 125 force and the shaft broke about half way down. Is this a 1 or 2 pc. shaft and is it a pain to replace it if it's a 1pc.and if it's a 2pc is the coupling in the gear box. Thanks for your time.
