As I usually try and do monthly I started my motor with the ear muffs attached. I ran the motor for about 10 minutes with no issues and shut her down. I noticed some smoke coming from underneath the cover and it smelled like some kind of electrical burn.

Need some help here...trying to see if I started I bought used works....I took some jumper cables and connect from my car battery to the motor....it is getting 12.86 volts....I connected both the hot and ground wires.
Should the motor have spun?
My starter had not been working so I was finally able to pull it from the motor and bench test it (jumper cables to car battery)....as suspected..nothing.
I removed the bottom of the starter and noticed that one of the pie shaped magnets was stuck down....while trying to fix it I ended up...
Followed the advice on threads and believe I need to replace the starter. I quickly saw 2 large bolts on the top and removed but the starter won't budge. I looked but did not see a third bolt...perhaps on the bottom?
Do I need to remove the fly wheel?
