So this is the second time I've had the carb off and forget to remove the fuel line from motor so the cowl pretty much filled with gas... Should the fuel pump be allowing fuel to pass?? There was a bit of varnish in the main jet....
So I took the boat out yesterday and it fired right up and seemed to idle good so I pulled it off the trailer and docked it... Pull the trailer and hop in boat and everything seems good til I get out of the no wake and try accelerating... It rev up and started taking off but never wanted to get...
Just so I'm clear when you say set the idle are you talking about the throttle stop screw or the pilot jet??? I'm gonna go back over the owner and service manual but not sure it said what rpms should be in gear at idle??? Pretty sure it's at about 950 give or take now...
I set it in a barrel but with it leaking it's definitely higher water level then when the boats in the water.. still plan on checking the timing but will try and set it out on the water next time. Thanks again
Prime starter assembly my bad sir...Itll do it in neutral too... It's like before it would start up at 1200 rpms or so and drop down to 1050ish.. now it starts at like 900-1000 and drops below 850.. but if I give it more throttle it'll pick up and run 1050+-..
So would a failing primer start cause the rpms to drop on cold start??? If I'm backing the boat off the trailer I have to give it a little more throttle or the rpms slowly drop... Once it's warm it don't seem to be an issue...
So I had my carb off to clean it and I had to take the fuel filter assembly off my Yamaha f15seha to get at the bolts holding the carb on. I've had the boat out twice since doing the carb with no issues. Sunday I went up river and then down and was making it back into the creek. Was at wot and...
Looking at the power tech srt prop for a Yamaha 15hp... So if I were switching from aluminum to a stainless prop like the srt would I need to drop down one or two pitches?? I have a 9x10 running 5720 wot rpm... So would I go with 9x9 or 9x8??? I plan on running an aluminum 9x9 today but not sure...
Turning point hustler 9x10
5820 wot
2.00:1 gear ratio
23 mph
15-16 prop slip
I plan on trying a 9x11 too soon.
I'm kind of limited on props so would a powertech srt have alot of cup?? And say if I stay with the 9x10 would I be going down one or two pitch sizes?? Really appreciate the help.
Yes I ran it at the set up in post #7. I ended up taking it the rest of the way up and it really helped clear the spray but I took it up too much as it started ventilating. So looks like my sweet spot is between half and all the way on the jack plate. Thanks for the help
I have 9x11 and 9x9 aluminum prop from it being on my old boat and plan on getting a stainless but gotta figure out which way in going with aluminum. So should I bump the jack plate back down or up?? And would dropping the set back to 4.25" knock down bow lift some or not very noticeable...
Here's where it's at now... I had it at the 2.5" above and it sprayed but wasn't seeing the plate. So I moved it up close to 1" where it's at now and can see plate but still have the fountain spray. Right now with 9x10 I'm a little over 5700 rpms and about 23 mph with gps. What would adjusting...
