    Suzuki Kill Switch Issue

OK, new switch panel and Suzuki kill switch installed and fuses checked and it still won't start. If I follow the wiring diagram and your suggestions, are you saying that the Blue/red wire should not show continuity with ground? And if it does we need to wring out the wires until we find where...

    Suzuki Kill Switch Issue

Thanks for the reply. I have ordered a complete Suzuki ignition panel that has the kill switch and the ignition switch. It is hard to imagine that something would change with the boat in storage but the fuses will be the next to check if this doesn't work. ( I actually don't know where they are...

    Suzuki Kill Switch Issue

Sorry, should have listed the model of the motor. It is a Suzuki DF 140 on a 19 ft Sea Fox Center Console.

    Suzuki Kill Switch Issue

After previously running the motor during cleanup after a non-eventful run we put the boat away for a month or so during the cold Florida weather and when we launched, the motor would turn over but not start at the boat ramp. It acted just like the lanyard was not plugged in. The kill switch was...

    Tach for a Sea Pro

Thanks - I will contact Sea Pro but they are mostly concerned with the newer version of Sea Pro post 2017. I will probably just get a generic replacement. Thanks for the help.

    Tach for a Sea Pro

Guys - Thanks for your response. I was not aware of the Sierra line other than water separators. Found a suitable replacement on MarineEngine.com. I was not able to find anything on Sea Pro. If you know of a contact that would carry a tach with the Sea Pro logo I would prefer to have something...

    Tach for a Sea Pro

Does anyone know where I could find a tach as shown for a 2001 Sea Pro center console? Should I just buy a marine tach that fits the hole? Are there any merchants that stock used parts for different models of boats? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Hooked up my battery with the wrong polarity

OK, I'm an idiot. If I didn't have a history of owning and working on every aspect of a race car for 50 years I would conclude that I have no business working on a boat. The blown fuse was the whole problem. Replacing it fixed it. But, I forgot that for the first time since I owned the boat I...

Hooked up my battery with the wrong polarity

Found the blown 30 amp fuse in the motor and replaced it. I now have power to turn the motor over and power the gauges and accessories, but it won't start, or at least hasn't started yet. Would a blown rectifier/regulator keep it from starting?

Hooked up my battery with the wrong polarity

Long story why I was so stupid, but I hooked up the wires to my battery on the wrong poles and when I switched it on I now have nothing working. Checked that I have power in and out of the cutoff switch but that is as far as I got. Does anyone know if boats have a fusible link or a single...

2001 Merc 115 EFI Won't Start with Idle Air Connected

I have had a strange situation with my 2001 Merc 115 EFI. When I recently cleaned out the tiny filter for the high pressure fuel pump (for the fourth time) and restarted the motor I left the connector to the idle air control unplugged because that is the way I found it when I got the motor back...

Replacing the steering cable on an 18 ft center console

I have what appears to be a broken cable on my 18 ft Sea Pro with a Merc 115. The cable goes into the floor in the console and comes out of the rear corner. I don't know whether it runs in a tube and I am not sure that I can access it while in the hull. How do I run the new cable if I can't get...

2001 Four Stroke 115 HP Idle Air Control Issue

As many of you know the 2001 Mercury EFI 4 stroke motor is essentially a Yamaha with Mercury badging. I asked this question on the Mercury site and got no response, so hopefully the Yamaha experts are more willing to chime in. After completing a job on the VST, the motor wouldn't start. It...

2001 Mercury 4 stroke 115 Idle Air Issue

I just completed a repair to the VST to clean the screen on the high pressure fuel pump and when the job was completed the motor would not start. The only difference between the way that I found the motor before doing the job, and after, was that I connected what was previously a loose connector...

Coating for the inside of the VST

The moderator closed my previous thread on this subject because it got onto a contentious debate about Ethanol in Marine engines. Because of this I was unable to get any suggestions about what if anything could be used to coat the inside of a VST that had experienced the early signs of...
