    Is it possible to install just the upper unit? alpha 1 gen 2

    I want to have only the upper unit on..in an attempt to diagnose a cooling issue. Looking for tips or tricks. Thinking if i could place something in to the coupler within the upper half I'd then be able to spin it hence spin the universal shaft inturn lining up splines for engine coupler. Thanks

    How would you remove this?

    '98 Alpha 1 gen 2 Water pump housing bolt snapped while removing. I'm leaning towards using left hand drill bits starting small and working up also drilling through the full length of the bolt hoping it comes out somewhere in the process. Look forward to your thoughts.

    Just flushed drive oil out of starboard idle relief port?

    '98 4.3 alpha 1 gen. 2 Jammed my fingers in the port side idle relief and blue green water comes out the starboard relief. Noticed drive fluid reservoir was getting low last year also i pulled the drive (last year) and noticed a decent amount of lube in the universal boot. I didn't fix that...

    What would these hoses typically connect to?

    '86 Sundancer 260 Mercruiser Engine has been torn apart a bit already, I'm wonder what the small rubber hose coming from the water pump connects to...heater? Also the clear tube it starts at the fuel pump and goes to... guessing the fuel tank?

    Impeller housing one of four bolts broke

    alpha one gen two. would using only three of the four impeller housing bolts get me through the last three days of vacation? Or would this be detrimental to the drive? would it be well worth using patients and bring it to some one to drill out tomorrow i'm in Lake George N.Y. Any shop...

    Just received a freebie 250 sundancer '86 with a 260 / alpha. Previous owner ran it last year till it lost power, brought it to marina for diagnose and they removed starboard side head and told him he needs a new engine. I inspected the head and found an exhaust valve ( the smaller of the two?)...

    One side of motor runs hot

    98 MerCruiser v-6 carb. alpha drive. riser on one side of engine gets hot to the touch and the other cool.     All needles bounce up on gauges

    When i flip my nav. lights on all gauge needles jump up slightly and stay there. (not pinned) Also noticed the fuse for the lights, a bit melted. all help greatly appreciated!
