i have a 85hp 1978 johnson that is leaking water out of the exhaust housing. i did rebuild the pump and all the gaskets from the foot up and replace the water tube. can't find the leak. no leaks in the head. any help would be great.

is the plastic bushing on the shift cable that goes to the out drive at the trasom important? it came out when i reinstalled the cable. how does one place it back when i can not see where the cable goes into the trasom? alpha one,gen II 4.3 v-6 the manual does not talk about this...
