anybody ever had problem with overfull tank leaking in hull? the boat was filled with sixty gallons of premium then hauled 20 miles through bumpy twisting roads.sat overnight and bilge area was dry upon inspection even though i smelled fumes.launched,driven for couple hours at high rate of speed...
at what temp would audible alarm go off for a 160 degree thermostat.i'm trying to do a process of elimination on my 98 454 mag.gauge reading 185-200 and alarm sounds.new sea water pump last year, no visible obstructions.i did find leaking hose at sea pump inlet, as well as a winterizing plug...

when switch turned on(not attempting to crank)no voltage reading at gauge.when trying to crank, only a click at the relay.when trying to trim,only click at relay
checked all fuses at the relays,cleaned and tightened battery terminals charged for four...
i bought a 92 40 hp saturday.the owner assured that a year ago a new impellar was installed, and boat checked good.
my problem is at full throtttle after about 3 minutes a constant audible alarm will sound.
if i come back to idle it alarm stops.
take off again same thing.
at idle no alarm.1/2...

whether new sending unit or old one, (even after replacing with new wiring for sender)
i still get a pegged to full reading.
this happened on a busy boating day, and prior to pegging the gauge was doing some wild bouncing...
this has been a recurring problem for years.
it never gives any indication as to when it will start or why.
may not do it at all in a full month of boating.
then.....out of the blue i can be cruising at 35 38 mph and all the sudden it's like someone cut the power to a couple cylinders.

it's been running great till friday night.it just quit,spins over fine and is getting fuel but won't start.
i put a screw driver in coil wire boot and held over distibutor cap and see no visible arc.
we bench tested the coil granted i,m unclear exactly how...
how can i determine whether my power pack is bad or whether it's the stator.seems to me i should be able to bypass the power pack to see if there's fire, i just don't know which wires to jump.
this is an 87 vro johnson.
