So after struggling to get the starter to work and then the engine to idle everything seemed happy on the muff so I put the boat in the water. Yes, I had the drain plug in :)
Was pulling the boys around on the tube for about an hour and then all the sudden the engine started sputtering an died...

To me it seems like some sort of timing issue and since I moved both wires and dizzy they seem like likely culprits. They look good to me but wanted to post in the event extra eyes saw something.
What else could be causing...
Last year this MCM (gm) 4 cyl 3.0L engine ran.
I had engine apart a bit, replaced cylinder head gasket, manifold gasket, carb gasket, fuel pump filter and gasket, water pump and gasket. Replaced starter brushes and put on new solenoid, cleaned wire contacts, put in new gapped plugs.

Turn key - loud clunk.
connect starter direct to battery - spin
turn key and jumper to starter concurrently - turns over
I'm assuming the issue is the starter solenoid but I just replaced it, fear I may have gotten wrong one. Also I am not familiar as to starter solenoid/slave solenoid...
Starter wouldn't start the boat with a good battery so I removed from boat.
Brushes were pretty worn so I replaced them.
Replaced with new starter solenoid.
It still will not start.
When turning the key I get a loud click. I am assuming it is the solenoid throwing out the bendix.
