My boat trailer has Bearing Buddy's on it. I recently learned how to replace and repack the bearings on my popup tent trailer, but don't know what to do with the Bearing Buddy's. Do I just add grease till they move out or do they need to be disassembled and regreased completely?
I've got a friend who recently bought a 90 something Bayliner 19' open-bow ski boat with a 120HP outboard. He says it's a 2 stroke and that he must mix gas and oil. Is this true or is there a chance that he's wrong? He also said it was a 250HP and that it had 6 cylinders. Only when I showed...
I have an 88' Wellcraft 17' I/O 130Hp ski boat. I have only had it out 2 times since I bought it. Last time out I could not get it above 29mph. I had this problem when I first took it out but learned that the trim brought my speed up to 39mph. I had more of a load this time so thought that...
I'm looking at purchasing a Garmin 60csx portable GPS unit for boating, hiking, and geocaching. Lowest price I can find is $383.00 online including shipping. Anyone have any experience with this unit and/or do you have any recommedations on where I can get a better price on it?
Thanks
My 17' ski boat pulls hard to the left while cruising. It's very hard to turn right(starboard?), but very easy to turn left. It's an I/O Alpha drive with a 3.0L mercruiser. Is this something that the adjustable fin above the prop can cure or does it sound more serious? How much do I adjust...
Please don't bump me because I'm asking a prop question here. I want to hear from the people running a 3.0L Mercruiser I/O on a smaller boat like mine(17') to find out what type of prop they are using and what they like or dislike about it. I'm running a 13.75" prop with 21 pitch. It has just...
I was playing with the trim up/down button while my 17' Wellcraft Classic was on the trailer today with the outdrive all the way up. The down button caused the drive to go down. When I pushed the up trim button, nothing happened. To get it back up I had to press the "trailer" button. It...
I understand that I should add fuel stabilizer during the off season to prevent varnish buildup in the engine and carb. Does this mean that I need to pour a bottle in the tank before I head in to the ramp for the last time this season so it can be in the tank and in the engine and carb?
I recently purchased a 17' fish/ski boat with a 3.0L Mercruiser Alpha I/O. I'd like to know what items are a must to have onboard, including spare parts. Life jackets are obvious, but what else?
I'm considering purchasing a portable GPS for 3 reasons:
1. Safety
2. Geocaching
3. To verify speedometer in boat
I don't want to get lost on a big lake like Shasta. Also, I have friends who go geocaching on camping trips and I'd like to do that too. I'd like to verify my boat's speedometer...
I've seen RV's with a battery box with a built in marine-grade switch and possibly even a cheapo battery gauge on the lid somewhere. Does anyone know where I can find one?
I'm new to boating. I've got an 88 Wellcraft Classic 17' ski/fish boat with a 3.0L Mercruiser. It's got a 3 blade prop that measures 13.5 inches in diameter. I've read others that have 17", 19", and even 21" props. Is mine drastically too small or do I just have "prop envy"?
I just bought a 17' ski/fish boat. It's my first boat. I have two daughters (3 and 5). I'd like to expose them to waterskiing, wakeboarding, and tubing. Tubing is the plan for now since they are so young. I'm afraid to put them on the tube without an adult at this point. If their mom...
I recently bought an 88 Wellcraft Classic 17' open bow ski boat with a Mercruiser 3.0L engine. It doesn't register over 28 mph on the speedometer with 3 200lb. guys onboard. is this normal or do I have a problem?
