    Mercruiser EST retrofit.

    Many people have tried the EST ignition to retrofit points style ignitions on older Merc gm V8's. Some without success. Are there other issues to consider? Assuming install, and timing is done correctly. AS posted in another thread Volvo uses them on non computer gm v8's. Whats the difference?

    Raising X on alpha 1

    I would like to raise the X dimension on my alpha one 260 1 inch. For those who may have done this,will this require a complete fill of the existing cutout first, or can the 1 inch and bolt holes be filled and and then adjust the cut. Will be using epoxy not poly.

    iboats forum loading slow on my system.

    Brake controller mounting

    Hi all, I need to mount an electric brake controller in my 2006 F150. Short of modifying the dash I'm not not having much luck coming up with a good location.     Delco EST...no advance

    I was bench running my rebuilt merc 260 today to run in the new cam. As part of the rebuild I installed a new Delco EST distibutor. After the engine was good and warm...140? per the temp gauge I attempted to set the timing. Did this per EST procedures...while engine is running connect timing...

    EST coil location

    Where does the factory mount the EST coil on a V8 ? I'm swaping out the mallory ignition for the EST on a 1980 mercruiser 260. I have a stamped throttle bracket ( 805359T) and it looks like it will bolt up there. Thanks

    Gimbal housing water tube

    sparkplug for vortec head V8

    Which sparkplug is recommended for the carburated 350 V8 with vortec heads? I just went through my 1980 mercruiser motor and changed to the 906 vortec heads. It will more than likely get a delco EST ignition as well. Comp cam #12-232-3 .030 over ~ 9.2-1 comp ratio. 600 cfm 4bbl. Thanks for looking.

    Ignition retrofit

    I am completely refitting a mercruiser 1980 260. serial#5569077. Distributor is in poor shape and I am replacing entire system. Updating to vortec heads as well. Looking for prefered ignition replacement... Delco EST. Mallory, pertronix...or other? Thanks
