Got it home today. Had it running - runs really well but as the seller said, the tell tail gets scolding hot after a minuite or so.... I think i'll take the water jacket plates off and have a look whats happening in there along with the leg and swap the impeller.

hi all - I've just brought a new (to me) 2 stroke mercury. It is an oil injected, 4 cylinder 40hp with trim and tilt. Would be grateful for any information / knowledge you guys may be able to give me on this engine - particularly the year... as close as can be told from the decals and trim etc...
