Need to replace twin 90's that get at least 4hrs a day every day at WOT for 8months of the year .... that's 1000 hrs easy a year .... need reliability as every day an engine is down we lose big bucks. Price not an issue ... would like to maybe go with 115 hp.

MASSIVE HONDO TWIN 90 PROBLEMS 2008 EFI
All started in June with water in port engine starter due to leaking verticle shaft seal.
seal was replaced plus new starter ..... same thing happened 200 hrs later.
these engines are run 4 hours a day at WOT = 120 plus hrs a month.
Port engine blew...
Anyone any experience with this issue .... I know Honda has had problems in the past with car engines blowing plugs due to galvanic corrosion between the alu head and the steel plug .... of course the Honda marine guy here says he's never seen it before but they always say that no matter what...

Initially we used a tarp ?tight fit ?. but found this created a lot of condensation and both the interior of the boat and the engine compartment were soaking wet after a week or so .

Just found out about this stuff from a friend who operates of Hawaii ...some of the worst corrosion prone areas on the planet ...he uses on all elec contacts, pin plugs , terminals etc. Been using for years with great results!

We are replacing the old universal spyders on a 2002 SX leg ..... the local Volvo Penta guy gave us spyder 3850812 and @#%$#@& .it does not fit . the bearing caps are a few thous larger than the olds ones ... also they have C clips on the inside ...our old ones have the c clips on the outside...
The volvo manual page 51 says use VP gasket sealant for the drive shaft bellows ....isn?t VP gasket sealant the same as Permatex aviation or Perfect Seal or the Evinrude equivalent.
What about using real gasket adhesive like Quicksilver rubber and gasket adhesive for the bellows ?

reinstalling an SX drive and note the seloc says no sealant on the transom seal .... also note Dons post ...
Many of the older drives like that also used a rubber oring type seal that gets glued into a groove in the transom sheild. When you took it apart, it would appear flat and like hard...
We want to reuse an SX driveshaft gimbal bearing ...alu style with grease hole ...came off a crashed SX leg with about 1000 hrs . No idea on how often it was greased but bearing looks brand new and spins smooth. Only thing is I notice in the manual that it says ...... "should pivot in all...

we need as old...
SX drive which won't come off ..rust on the drive shaft .....fortunately the engine is not in the boat ...however no amount of penetrating oil shot into the bearing past the seal from inside the boat or pulling the leg with a truck or pounding on the drive shaft will budge it more than 1/4 inch...
Have an odd situation .. .... boat has 1990 big block Mercruiser with new Bravo leg and half closed cooling system...boat will run great for hours then all of a sudden at cruising speed engine dies ...will not immediately restart, however if left 10 mins will restart and all is normal again...
