Mercruiser TRIM Tab Anode-INstallation dilemna Photos! Help!

Bump made the same mistake, forgot to install the trim tab bolt when servicing the outdrive. Now the head won’t clear the opening in the upper to bolt up the trim tab. Any solution out there other than splitting the drive? Thanks!

Mercruiser 470 timing - service manual?

Awesome, thanks for the tips! I have the Pertronix Ignitor II with the 45111 Flame-Thrower II Ignition Coil. I searched quick, thinking it may be the same as with points but I could be wrong.

Mercruiser 470 timing - service manual?

Thanks all! Really appreciate all of the posts. Thanks for checking in ESGWheel. I converted the points to electronic ignition a few years back so no dwell to set. I found cylinder 1 TDC on the compression cycle and moved the rotor to the wire 1 position. The engine now runs. It was cranking...

Mercruiser 470 timing - service manual?

Hey all, Removed the distributor on my Mercruiser 470 to replace the side (lifter) compartment gasket. Need to time the engine now. I believe the timing was revised to 4 BTDC vs 8 as originally specified. I think I have the gist of it but figured it would be worth reading through the...

Deck Repair - Fiberglassing Question (Newbie)

Yup I was thinking a coat of poly resin all around the board, then once it gets tacky, a layer of CSM all around and lastly tabbing and 1708 on top.

Deck Repair - Fiberglassing Question (Newbie)

Thanks guys, appreciate the tips and info. I would have responded sooner but I’ve been reading the sticky/watching the restore of the 95 Sea Ray. Some great information - still a lot more to go. The spot is in the back port side corner of the boat which gets wet often. For whatever the reason...

Deck Repair - Fiberglassing Question (Newbie)

Hey all, working on repairing a soft spot in my deck (18’ bowrider) and the carpeting. Was thinking of cutting out the rot and using 3/4 marine ply to replace it. From what I read, I could either epoxy all sides to ‘prime it’ and glass all around (routing edges) or prime with epoxy and then...

Lip broken off transom drain tube - options?

Thanks so much for the responses! For the epoxy resin, would I just seal the small outer edge where the lip is missing/transom is exposed or should I be (attempting) removing the brass tube and sealing the entire surface of the whole through the transom? Then apply the 4200 to where the...

Lip broken off transom drain tube - options?

Hey all, have an ‘83 Cobia Sportster, 18’ I/O bow rider. Recently found that the lip of the drain tube is broken off (see pic). I would gladly replace with a new brass tube but it’s impossible to get at the bilge side of the tube with the engine in the way. Looking for an option to...

    Mercruiser Sterndrive Transom Stress Crack

Thanks so much for the detailed info. Will definitely do some more research and install the brass fitting. Makes me curious why my boat never had one? Would you repair/fill the cracks? I was thinking of bottom painting with a barrier coating (and maybe vc-17m for a smooth finish) since it will...

    Mercruiser Sterndrive Transom Stress Crack

Hey all, Have had my ‘83 Cobia Sportster for 13 years now. It has always been dry docked aside from the past 3 years, it’s been wet docked from May-October in Lake Hopatcong NJ. Overall, it’s in great shape. Always maintained, engine is strong, in process of re-upholstering the interior. I...

    Bumps in Gelcoat - blistering?

That was the initial plan hah Looking to get maybe 2-3 more seasons out of it tops, that being the case so you think epoxy / bottom paint will get me there? Or roll dice and do nothing? Definitely don’t want a big bill repairing wouldn’t be worth it
