    So what is the correct way to do a compression test? Take all the plugs out or just one at a time? And they should all be within what lb/% of each other? What is a max/min lb for a GM 165?

    rochester 2-bbl carb flood

    GM IL6 2-bbl carb has gas coming out of the tube on top of the carb when I crank the engine over. When I tap the reservoir it frees the the float and works fine after that. I've tried cleaning the reservoir but it doesn't seem to fix it. Any ideas what I should do next?

    Thermostat IL6

    bought a quicksilver thermostat-140 item # 59078. Tested against 2 agreeing (candy) thermometers. It did not begin to open til 160 degrees. Ran the test 3 times...a number of different ways: running the temp up to 143, down from 170 etc. All the same...160 before any action by the thermostat...

    gm inline 6 (1974) overheating above 2000 rpm. Impeller new and working. Water pump good, Therm good. Intake water passages clear. I'm suspecting the big long Osco manifold is partial blocked and not draining the higher volume of coolant water at the higher rpms. It is not leaking anywhere...
