I'm trying to ckeck the points on my 1970 40 h.p. johnson outboard, but i cannot get the flywheel to come off. I got the nut off but the flywheel will not move at all, even with a puller. I've tried to tap the bolt on the puller but that won't even do the job. I've even tried an impact wrench...
j.rieck here<br /><br />I know there are 2 replies. I already tried to remedy the problem with those answers and it did not work. It is still running with the choke only.<br />I was just wondering if there could possibly be something else wrong also. I dont know a whole lot about boat motors...
1970 40h.p. Johnson still running(idling is all it will do)with choke on. I rebuilt the carb,changed all hoses,fuel pump is working fine,vent is open on tank,no air leaks. What could possibly be the problem?????<br />Runs with choke on only.<br />Could the low speed needle be messed up??
