    Supposed “2010 mercury 25hp tiller”

This makes me feel a lot better because he told me the motor used to be jet driven. Still a little worrisome though. I’d like to report it with model number and if it’s not stolen, and I keep it. Would make it so much easier getting parts

    Supposed “2010 mercury 25hp tiller”

Sooo long story short. I got this motor on a trade and now regretting it. I was pretty excited about trading a 97 Yamaha for this motor and was shocked the guy wanted to trade but I went with it. I should have done more investigation upon meeting the guy but the excitement got the best of me and...

    97 25hp 2 stroke fuel issue

I can do pretty much anything myself, if I don’t know from experience a simple google search is my friend. Finding nothing on this specific model Yamaha is now a concerning factor. Parts, specifically the carburetor, is apparently discontinued as well as rebuild kits. Haven’t done much...

    97 25hp 2 stroke fuel issue

Just out of curiosity,, I’ve never messed with a timing light before so this may be an invalid question. Beings there’s timing marks on the the flywheel for “I think” 10, 20, and TDC probably wrong on the degrees without looking at it. Then the timing mark on motor. To my knowledge everything is...

    97 25hp 2 stroke fuel issue

Everything on top end is moving like it should as far as I can see. Timing advances a litttle bit while In neutral, once shifted into gear obviously it has a much broader advancement and it stops maybe an 1/8th of inch before the stopper peg, “what ever it’s called”

    97 25hp 2 stroke fuel issue

After speaking to a guy on a Facebook group, I believe I am getting too much fuel at higher throttle. Little to no fuel is shooting out of the main jet into the carburetor at idle to almost the point of it bogging down. Once it reaches bog point fuel is almost pouring out. Not sure if it’s...

    97 25hp 2 stroke fuel issue

I replied back to you on post 19. If the flywheel key was broke or sheared, my time marks wouldn’t line up when pistons are top dead center.

    97 25hp 2 stroke fuel issue

Well, if you read my original thread, I’ve done the testing, and replaced every inch of fuel related part. That is why I’m here. Hoping that someone would have a similar resolved issue. I mean, at the end of the day, that’s why these forums are here, right? To find help, suggestions or opinions...

    97 25hp 2 stroke fuel issue

I’m sure somewhere around here is. Always been a DIYer. I’m always scared of them labor costs. But I may just have to bite the bullet on this one and find a mechanic.

    97 25hp 2 stroke fuel issue

TDC Timing marks on flywheel and engine line up to each piston so it’s not the flywheel key. I haven’t messed with screw. I think from lightly seated I have it between 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 out. That’s where I’ve always had it and it ran great before this. Have not tested the spark gap. My tester is...

    97 25hp 2 stroke fuel issue

New fuel tank made no change. So everything fuel related is brand new. From the tank to carb. There has to be a blockage in the carb I can’t see or get too. Or the timing some how jumped.

That’s what I have now, going to buy another one when I leave work today to test it out. You figure as expensive as they are their quality would be way better.

    97 25hp 2 stroke fuel issue

Yes, I’m almost positive it’s my fuel tank. I was reading the bad reviews on them and I saw quite a few say after a year the pick up line starts coming apart, which makes since because when this problem started back in April, I took the carb off to clean it and I had to blow a chunk of trash out...

    97 25hp 2 stroke fuel issue

I know what it is, I’ve never used one. Very mechanically inclined I’ve never messed with timing though. Especially on an outboard, have no clue on it.

Usually the fuel tank swells up in the hot sun, now it’s kind of sucking in.
