    My 1981- 70 hp merc just completed its shakedown cruise. The motor ran hot, there was a slight amount of steam coming out of telltale with the water. When I got home I checked the spark plugs, and the # was of 86 and later plugs. Could that have caused the overheating?<br /><br...

    Those manual tiltsagain !

    I am just as tired of talking about these manual tilt cylinders as you are of listening. But-, just beat these frozen rascals of the -70 h.p.,81 merc, and the ques is, do I really need to put them back?<br /><br />------------------

    I have a 81-70 hp merc motor, with manual tilt.Are those 2 cylinders on outside of motor supposed to have oil in them, and should they make it easier to tilt? Because this bugger is hard to tilt.<br /><br />------------------
