    50hp carb on 40hp motor?

    I own a 2001 Johnson 40hp.I know a guy that has a blown 50hp and he said he'd sell the carb off of it to make mine a 50hp.Is it really that simple.Will changing carbs actually give me 10 more hp just like that.The reason I'd like to do it is because this motor has a jet drive and every bit of hp...

    blown gasket

    I have a 99merc 40 hp 4stroke and the gasket on the side of the block where the water hose comes out is leaking and spraying water inside the cowl.I'm wondering what this gasket is called and if I can fix it myself as it says on the panel,torque to 9lbs.Any info would be appreciated.
