Howdy, y'all. I'd like to take off the flywheel to check out the spark items. What sort of puller do I need? Where can I get one?

    Solenoid/ cutout/ safety switch questions

My '69 40 hp 'rude has lots of issues, but it ran well last fall. I'm re-wiring and finding several things. 1)The cut-out switch was wired (I think), but no vacuum line hook-up. And there is no safety switch at all. If I hook up the cutout vacuum, will it do its job without the safety switch...

    69 40 HP Evinrude vacuum lines/ cutout

Howdy, y'all. I'm tying to hook up everything on the engine. I need to hook up the cutout switch. I see three vacuum nipples in there. on on the cutout, one just below the flywheel/ above the carb, and the other into the crankcase, just below the carb. Right now the one under the flywheel...

    '69 'rude 40 HP

I'm slowly getting this engine rebuilt and checking wire diags, etc. I have 3 sources for diagrams and they all reference either a generator or alternator. Mine has neither. Did they build one w/o, or has someone taken this one off and left it to run on the magneto. It runs well. Also, what...

    '70 Boat ID tag

I have a 1970 Ouachita 14 ft fiberglass. To get it licensed, I'm supposed to do a pencil tracing of the Boat ID tag. Where would I find it? I'm afraid it may have gotten removed at some point. Can they be re-issued? Thanx

    1969 Evenrude 40 HP wiring

Howdy, y'all. I've rebuilt the boat w/ y'alls help. Now I gotta rewire the engine/ controls. I got a control/ wiring set from a junkyard to replace the torn up mess I had. It actually fit the old plug. But the wiring cluster from the plug into the engine is totally shot, and not enough wire...

    Testing the engine

I have a 40 hp evinrude. I want to do the "test in a barrel". Don't I need a disk of some sort to replace the prop so it doesn't churn up the water and kill me in the process? What's it called and where can I get one? Thanx

    transom replace: Lumber vs plywood?

Well, y'all probably knew the transom was rotted on my 14 ft '70 Ouachita tri-hull, but were waiting for me to discover it myself, eh? The deck was rotted and foam drenched, but I was hoping it was OK. It wasn't. Anyway, I read how to replace, etc, But I was wondering why everyone uses 3/4"...

69 40 HP Water Pump question

My son and I are replacing many parts on the engine. We were replacing the WP, and in his enthusiasm, pulled out the water pumpstar before I could see how it went in. Attached is a photo of how we put it in. Can anyone tell me whether this is right, or if we have to go in and turn it around...

    14 ft Ouachita Transom

As noted in my previous posts, I've gotten the deck out. Plywood was shot, foam was soaked. Stringers were amazingly unscathed. Teak? This boat will spend VERY little time in the water. An OLD 40 HP pushing it (I hope) Anyway I got to looking at the transom. it has a piece of 1/4" Aluminum...

After fiberglass on deck, then what?

I'll be putting the deck back on my 14' Ouachita tri-hull. Before I took it off, the finish coat over the deck white w/ blue specs and went uniformly all the way up the sides. Now I'll be re-glassing the deck and connecting it to the sides, of course. What will I need todo to get another...

'69 Evinrude 40 HP shift linkage

I'm doing some repairs on my "new" toy, but there are a few things I haven't quite figured out. My Clymers manual doesn't show enough detail. I presume the linkage is meant to have a lot of flex for movement between the motor and housing. Thing is, I've got a LOT of play in it, and I wanted to...

    Finish coat on deck

OK, with thanks to y'all I'm planning out the whole deck replacement. I'm up to the final glass. What do I put on last as the color coat to put on the deck and up the sides to match? Thanks once again! Jer.
