    electrical help

    have a 1986? (0A131197) 4 cyl. 50 hp merc outboard (brown band). diagrams in books do not quite match wiring. have 4 wires from stator, not six. two to rectifier and two to switch box. Cyl. 1 & 2 not firing. How do I diagnose if stator, switchbox or trigger? Diagram would be greatly appreciated...

    50 hp merc lost two clyinders

    1986 merc 50 wont go past 2200 rpm, rebuilt carbs and cleaned fuel system, no change, checked for spark today, two cylinders dead. Can the coils be tested? or should I swap dead for live and see if problem moves?
