I continue to read conflicting reviews on the Revenge 22 cuddy cabin and I'm looking for some unbiased reviews..
This boat will be used for daily cruising trips in the pacific northwest (vancouver BC), day fishing trips for salmon, occasional lake trips and 2-3 times a year overnighters to...
Hey guys - I am narrowing my search for a small trawler and really like the early 80's mainship 34.
My biggest concern is the single screw diesel and no thrusters.
Would I regret and resent this boat as it would be a nightmare to take in and out of a busy marina with a narrow slip?
My...
Hi all - i am replacing the manifold and riser on my 1974 mercruiser 3.0 as the old ones were cracked.
The new design of the quicksilver manifold has two water ports whereas the new (barr) riser only has one (Like the original).
The gasket that came with the new manifold also doesn't match it...
Hey guys - here is the background of the latest events.
1974 mercruiser 3.0L - I took it out on its first trip (as the new owner) and the coupler went out within 10 minutes.
After repairing this I started the motor on earmuffs with new oil - after a shortwhile i noticed the oil had water in it...
Hi all - i have a bad motor in my 74 starcraft - it is the GM 140hp with a cracked block.
Prices are crazy for short blocks - but I just found a local 1998 3.0l complete/running motor. I've read about different flywheels and the couplers but I am confused - is there any reason I cannot just...
Hi all - I’m putting new rings on my 2002 Yamaha 15hp 2 stroke and noticed one of the piston wrist pins goes in easier than the other.
one is snug and requires some force to push into place while the other goes in by hand and spins with two fingers (in the piston). There is no up and down play...
Hey guys - i have my lower leg apart as i wanted to inspect the gears and dog clutch.. however i CANNOT get the bearing carrier out as it is completely stuck.. i have broken two tools attempting. I decided to drain the oil and it seems okay so i figured i'd leave it alone for now.
I did notice...
Hi all - I have removed the power head with flywheel and all still attached from my 04 Yamaha 15hp 2 stroke.
I am putting new rings on it (and checking overall condition) but am unsure how to record the timing once removing flywheel and timing components.
I am used to car engines .. what do...
Hi all,
I've torn down my mercruiser 3.0 and am doing rings, bearings, gaskets
The engine took in some water (during a rainstorm.. somehow?..). There was an obvious knock after starting it up (without knowing about the water). We found some damage to one bearing but everything else looked...
Hey guys,
I spent 5 hours today attempting to re mount the sterndrive after replacing the coupler. I have a 1975 mercruiser 3.0L 140hp and installed a Sierra 18-2171 coupler.
Basic breakdown of the events
- aligned engine with the standard tool.. found i could never get the alignment tool...
Hi guys,
I just finished reinstalling my merc 140hp but was left with one wire i didn't document. It runs from a relay/solenoid and appears to be a ground (i assume because its relatively thick, black and has a large terminal ring on one end). It is the thicker wire running from where my...
HI all,
I am just in the process of removing the mercruisr 3.0 from my starcraft to replace the coupler.
Can you confirm that the shift linkage needs to be removed? This is the one thing that i haven't seen mentioned when doing my research.
thanks!
Hi guys,
I have a 75 starcraft holiday and I am attempting to upgrade the broken steering wheel.
It is a very old cable system (that works well) where the entire steering shaft comes out. I've removed the shaft and cannot get the wheel off.
I've now unfortunately damaged the threads on the...
Hi guys,
I am in the process of replacing the coupler which spun itself free on my 1975 holiday 18 (with the mercruiser 3.0L).
I read a lot about motor alignment and adjusting the mounting bolts to lift and lower the angle.
This motor appears to be bolted to/through a tapered piece of wood...
Hi guys,

Here is my situation.. the boat is not perfect.. the carpet is wrecked and i do not have access to the underside of the plywood...
