I have a 1993 volvo 501b which has a (I think) Pertronix distributor with the weights and springs to manage the mechanical advance. It has the star wheel / hall sensor electronic ignition.
The springs and weights are pretty crufty for the mechanical advance.
I'm thinking I can...
Patient is a volvo 501b 1993.
The trim oil has water in it. The drive does trim up and down.
I have no visible leaks, but after a bit of trim use, the tank will overflow as water infiltrates the system.
Question: How do a trace where the water is sneaking in?
I don't see any fluid leaking...

Volvo 501b 1993.
Trim oil is milky and thin. changed oil, cycled the trim up and down on the trailer - all looked ok. No oil leaks.
Put it the water, cycled the trim, and the trim oil is milky again.
I am assuming I'm sucking in water at the trim ram. Are the volvo Rams...

I'm still struggling with a volvo 501b that won't accellerate well, and can't get to full RPM.
Since the last time I asked...
My mechanic pulled the holley carb and replaced it with a new Edelbrock 1409 600cfm carb.
The boat is running even worse, and can't get up on a plane...
I've got a volvo 501B GM 305 block V8.
I need to swap out the Holley Carb (rebuilding didn't resolve the issue).
I'm looking at the Edelbrock 600cfm 1409 carb.
Question: Do I need an adaptor to make it fit the Volvo intake manifold?
What other parts should I consider?

I still have not solved the issues with my Volvo 501b. It stumbles on hard acceleration, and it stumbles hard at WOT. Eventually, it boogers up the plugs and barely runs at all.
I had the Carb rebuilt, but I'm starting to think the rebuild is not cutting it.
