    Naden update

It's been a busy few months. In the last two months, I've got the trailer prepped, primed & painted and bunks made. Rolled the boat upside-down and sanded, spot-primed, seams caulked with 3m 5200. Then rolled and tipped the bottom of the hull with Easypoxy. I'm really happy with the result...

    GluVit Question

Someone may have used Gluvit or a similar product on the 16' Naden aluminum runabout I'm refurbishing. Whatever it is, it's a real pain to remove. The only thing that seems to work is a wire wheel. How clean do I need to get the rivets and seams before I can apply GluVit? Also, should I acid...

67 Merc 650 Lower Unit Please Help

I purchased this 67 Mercury (s/n 2207052) with my 1967 Naden project boat. I guess I know why the previous owner sold it now. JB Weld or similar cracked. I just removed the paint to get a look at the area and found this. Oil had no trace of water, but the blue silicone in the lower unit leads...

    Crack in aluminum

In doing the leak test on the Naden, I discovered this ugly little crack at one of the stringers. There is no easy access to the inside (without taking part of the hull apart). I'm not sure how to proceed. I guess I should drill the ends to stop it from spreading. From there I could either: A)...

Naden leak test - need advice on leaks

Finally got a chance to check the hull for leaks. I was pretty happy that none of the leaks were gushers, a few loose rivets. One seam has me puzzled about the best way to repair it, there is no easy access to get a bucking bar to the inside of the hull. The manufacturer riveted in some...

    Naden progress

It's been a while since I've been able to work on my 16' aluminum project boat, but I thought an update was in order. The trim pump and cylinders are out, the hull is almost stripped of wires and hardware and I did manage to build an engine stand. Maybe this weekend I'll get the engine off! Jim

    Naden Update

Hello: I haven't posted in a while bacause I had trouble getting back on after the change in the forum. Taking things off of boat is going O.K., undoing the wiring is slow as I have been making tags for each wire before I pull it. Should have the motor off soon if I get some time to build a...

    1967 Merc 650 2 cycle 4 cylinder - Cable question

Hello! I was on as JimmyMac, but the change knocked me of for good apparently. I have a '67 650 4 cylinder (2207052) and MerControl control box which I am trying to take off of my project boat (which needs painting). Does anyone know if I have to remove the lower cowl to get the shift cable...
