    Yamaha valve adjustment

    I just bought a new yamaha 4hp 4 stroke outboard. The salesman said I should bring it back in after 10 hours, to let them adjust the valves. this adjustment isn't free. The manual doesn't mention this adjustment. Is it really necessary?

    I'm going to buy a new 5hp shortshaft; 2 stroke or 4 stroke? I'm leaning toward Honda and Nissan. I would love to hear some feedback before I decide.
