Ok so I ran my boat for the first time today (1989 Spectrum 1900 aluminum) and I tried 2 different props and results are as follows.
With 2 adults and 2 children:
13X19 Stainless (brand unknown? But it is painted black from factory) 5200-5250 RPM at 42mph
13.5X17 aluminum stock prop 5650-5700...
Re: 1987 Bluefin Sportsman 1900 - The Fun Begins
Ok lokonn here is a pic of the live well where it currently is, not sure I am going to keep it in this spot or not? I have some thinking to do on how I want everything but won't get to that stage until I finish tear out and get rid of the motor...
Well finally had a chance to run my boat today and get some good solid numbers. I believe I am probably at the top end of what to expect from this setup but figured I would throw the numbers up anyway and see what the prop experts think.
Boat: 1984 Glastron SV-178 (17' fiberglass) reverse...
I know this topic has been discussed before but I thought I would get a few opinions as they may vary. Long story short I got a 93' 120 johnson 90 degree looper. the previous owners used the VRO system without ever having an issue. I like others have heard horror stories of the VRO systems, what...
Ok I bought me a beautiful 93' Johnson 120 yesterday and I am getting mixed info on what the gear case gears are? Have done a lot of reading through here and other forums and have heard 2.25:1, 2:1 and even 1.86:1? I know there was large and small gear cases made for these V4's but from the...
Re: 80's johnson/evinrude 25hp to 30-35hp conversion with pics
Yep that is surely what it looks like. The BF stands for Belgium Derated model. Which tells me that it is a restricted 25hp. So it does look like a European 1978 20hp. The only thing I believe that you have to do to turn it into a...
I am debating on buying a 92' 115hp johnson for $400 bucks and rebuilding it. The guy that has the motor informs me that the bottom starboard cylinder wall is scored. Other than that the other 3 are in good condition. The rest of the motor like lower unit and what not is in really good...
I picked up this 1971 6hp johnson today, model number 6RL71G and it has this odd slide shift tiller on it that I have never seen before. You push the button on the tiller and pull to put it in forward and or push the button in and push the handle back toward the motor to go in reverse. Has...
Ok I will try this again. Had the wrong serial number last night do to trying to read it in the dark. I am wondering what year Gen II Alpha one this is.
Serial number on the Mercruiser sticker on the out drive is OD777384 it also says 1.50R which I am going to assume is my gear ration of...
Re: Prop pitch selection question on a 30hp Johnson
Hey all good info torbjorn : ) Well my new tach is not here until tomorrow but I went and ran all 3 props and GPS them today because I was bored. Ok to start with I decided to make another jack plate, this time I raised the motor up 2 and...
I was curious if anyone know what the plastic ring on the end of OMC props is for? I am sure other brands have them also but I have never seem them on a stainless prop or high quality aluminum props?
To me it doesn't seem to have a purpose. Just looks like extra resistance and drag going...
So I purchased an 85' 30hp rope start tiller short shaft today for $250. Now I bought this as just a parts motor for my 88' since the power head and lower unit are interchangeable with mine. Not that I even needed it but hey you can never have enough extra parts. So the guy tells me he has never...
Ok my boat is a 14ft Lowe V hull with an 88' 30hp Johnson. I tested 3 props with my new Tiny Tach today and here are my results. I run with what I will call a heavy load 25% of the time and a light load 75% of the time. When the wife and second son go out with us is the heavy load, about 250 lbs...
Today I ran my 30hp Johnson with it offset 2 inches toward the starboard side for better comfort while operating my 14ft aluminum boat. I couldn't even tell a difference in boat control or performance. Has anyone else ever ran there motor like this? I know kickers motors are off to the side but...
