On the rear right bank, down by the starter on the block is aSerial Number, M324683. This is a 4.3 vortec, 2bl carb in a 2002 Smoker Craft boat. I'm trying to find a starter and alternator but any site I'm on doesn't have the this serial number. The starter looks like any other starter from...
Yep drained first. That’s why it didn’t make sense to drain then flow fresh water with winterizer. Not that that’s what was being advised here. Just seen others showing that.
I drained what I could and filled block up with winterizer until it wouldn’t take anymore.
Unfortunately my starter went belly up while sitting in the drive so the siphon method was not used. After twiddling my thumbs for far to long I went old school and probably the quickest method by far. Grabbed a rachet/socket and screwdriver and went to work. Dumped winterizer straight into...
So far I'm unclear on what is actually being winterized. I know water is being sucked up through the lower unit and then circulating through the motor and out the exhaust. At this point I've removed the blue plugs (5) and drained. Poked the holes to make sure there was no blockage.
I've...
Update, Problem is fixed and the culprit was the ignition sensor. Engine instantly fired up which almost brought me to tears. It has been an experience and I appreciate all the help I have received here. I went ahead and installed a new rotor, dist cap, coil, wires and plugs. Total cost was...
Thank you. Yes it’s in an 02 smokercraft. 18’. I won’t mess with solenoid, cranks no problem. The breaker is rusted to a point it would work if it was actually needed. So I’m changing the sensor in the distributor and leaving the icm alone. Seems they aren’t to expensive if needed though...
Curious if anyone would know if this solenoid runs the trim motor? Im going to replace the circuit breaker along with rotor, cap, plug wires, coil and plugs. The circuit breaker is basically none functional. These are seasonal items to check, possibly change regularly anyways. Its...
Ill give it a go. I just went to look for the serial number and the air breather is supposed to have these but the owners prior must of replaced the cover and did not transfer the numbers over. So I don't have much to go off of for serial numbers, unless somewhere else.
Also the motor appears to have a crank trigger in the timing cover. To my knowledge this has never been hooked up and appears there is no other wires to plug in. I've had the boat 2 months and ran fine twice, and then instantly started in with the issue.
Just checked the coil again. upon cranking, Im getting 11 or so volts. Under 12 for sure. Yesterday I did put a jumper wire from battery to coil to make sure Im getting 12 plus volts and still nothing.
