tohatsu 4 stroke 20 hp 6 year old motor. motor stalls out on 40% revs or lower. Runs fine at higher revs.
Motor will only idle with choke on.
I just discovered a fuel leak. This leak is a continuous trickle coming out of a hose which leaves from under the carb.
there are 3 hoses on this carb...
20hp 4 stroke tohatsu stalls with low revs. Runs fine with 50% throttle or above. It will only idle with choke on.
The carb is 18 months old and I just took it completely apart and gave it a thorough clean. It was already spotlessly clean. this made no difference. motor is 5 years old.
motor goes up fine , when I press the down button the(down) relay switch clicks but motor doesn't go down. I try swapping relay positions around , then motor goes down fine but the (up) relay switch clicks and motor doesn't go up. I bought a new relay switch with no improvement! same...
I think its year is around 1980 or so. The tachometer stopped giving a reading and there is no output from the wires coming from the the alternator (where they join the battery). The battery is not charging ie. if it starts with a reading of say 12.4 volts with motor off.....it (the battery)...
Occationally while in forward gear at half power the revs go way up and the speed reduces. I throttle down and power back up again and all remains good again. Then five or ten or thirty mins later the same thing happens again.
