    compression and starter on 2000 johnson 130 - j1300vxss (12/99)

    I'm considering buying this engine however i have several concerns. I'm told the compression is 95 in each of the cylinders which seems low? The engine is supposed to have only 50hrs on it. Also the starter has been replaced twice already??A two yr.warranty is being offered.I am new to boating...

    purchasing a 2000 johnson 130 hp outboard !

    I have been told it has 50 hrs. on it and the compression reads 95 on all cylinders. Does the 95 reading sound like it falls in an apprpriate range etc.? I am new to boating and have some reservations? The boat is a 2001 sea hunt, escape 200. Any feedback would be appreciated. newbie04

    i have been told the engine(j1300vxsss)has approx <br />50 hrs. on it and that the compression is 95 on each of the cyclinders. does this sound right? what would be an appropriate range or number for the compression. i am concerned as someone brand new to boating.
