    my 86 140 merc is running a little rich do I turn the fuel air mix screw clockwise or counterclockwise lean it out?

    Anybody got a shift cut out swithc for a 86 mercruiser 140, the cheapest one I have found was 80 bucks( I believe it was the right one..lol), or does anyone know of a better deal? Let me know thanks

    low rpm

    my merc 140 is only running 2200 rpm (on the gauge) at WOT, with a 19 prop, the engine has been tuned up and is running good, what else could be causing the low rpms?

    shifting problems

    Iam haveing trouble with my mercruiser 140 Alpha 1 drive shifting, it seems to like to stay in forward gear and is hard to find neutral with the shifter sometimes going right into reverse from forward this is making it very difficult to dock etc. Any ideas on where this problem could be, I was...

    running rich

    after a carb rebuild my 86 mercruiser 1410 is running very rich, when the engine starts I get black smoke out of the exhaust, black sut on the transom, and it has a stonger fuel smell than usual. What adjustments can be made. Any help would be great. Thanks

    mercruiser carb

    Im trying to figure out which carb I have on my 1986 3.0 Mercruiser 140 4 cyl. I was told that it could only be 1 of 2 carbs a rochester or a mercarb...the only #s on the carb are 13899350 6103 any info would help out Im trying to find the right rebuild kit for my carb. Thanks

    still bogging down

    replaced fuel filters, added fuel stabilizer, cleaned carb, and when still when I accelerate quickly as if I was pulling a skier the engine bogs down and will quit if I dont come off it any ideas? any info would be greatly appriciated. It is a 86 mercruiser 140, in a 19.5 ft Webbcraft

    acceleration bog

    took my 86 webbcraft with 140 Mercruiser out for the 1st time this year today and when accelerating....puling a skier the engine would bog down quite a bit sometimes to the point it would kill the engine..any ideas?
