Mercy.... tops off and took a few evenings of being upside down and plenty of awkward positions as I worked around the lip on the inside! I did take measurements to be sure if things relax I can keep it in shape. Plenty of work to do before I can get it back on!
As much as I tried to support...
Here is a dash picture after some power washing to prep removing the top.... There are holes on the right side where one is plugged with resin so possible this was the original install and gellcoat was redone after it was moved to the left side. Holes for controls on the right side pictured as...
Looks like this was optional prop 378571 and based on what I could find it is RH so maybe it had a different engine on with LH and they didn't move it to the right.... I know nothing about props yet so I am assuming all the information below lines up from the PJ40 stamp and I should plan on...
I actually have this on my list to figure out why they moved it to the left side... it was installed on the right originally and there was definitely a different motor on this thing based on holes in the transom.... I am just now trying to figure out the mystery of what prop it has on it
Hmm  wonder where I gave the impression there was a lack of want lol.... I will definitely be keeping this one
When I was young and dumb and my handle on here was applicable still.... I had 2 boats I acquired via labor trade and now former in-laws where I did all the work on the...
I had hoped someone might recognize but perhaps out of luck. I am curious about the metal supports at the back of the boat and if these were original or not. Putting in cable steering and these seem to be in the way of cables, so I need to remove them but knowing the original structure of this...
If there was an achievement for reviewing every page on fiberglassics I would have achieved this lol..... but I did run through everything A-Z and could not find a match. Spent the day endlessly scrolling again and trying to find anything I could on the net but while I can find similar looking...
Paperwork when I bought it said it was a 1969 Quicksilver  the steering wheel says quicksilver so that is the only reason I can think that ended up as the model between previous owners.
The engine that came with it is an Evinrude 40HP Lark 1967 and does not appear to be the original...
Well ... despite my efforts of testing and prepping everything ... my transom glassing to the outer skin appears to have sucked royally ...
The resin mixture was still tacky by the time I got the transom slathered w/ a quick coat of resin ... and then bolted and clamped in as seen in the...
ok so I have 3-4 cans of old poly resin that are probably 7-10 years old ....
I realize that I do not want to use this old resin for structural purposes but given the shelf life is about 9 months ..... anybody think this is a good ideah ?
also I am getting to the part of putting my transom...
It seems as if I am grinding and itching and I am still in the same spot as before.....
How even or smoothe does the inner part of the transom have to be for the new transom to bond well to it ? It looks as if the transom was redone or not done well the last go around and left me trying to...
Hello all,

Well I have been a big fan of this site ... read many many posts on repairing of the transom and of the stringers and decking ...

After I got my Chrysler Magna 75 going I went to inspect an areah on the driver section of the floor that I figured I would have to...
