I have a '73 model Johnson 25 hp outboard. Runs like a top, is there anyway to improve the power and speed <br />of this unit....... It's on a 14' semi V lonestar aluminum boat ....does great w/just me a light equipment... add fishing buddy <br />and some modifications on boat and it gets pretty...

I have a 73 mod 25 horse johnson measures 18 inches from top of transom at clamps to cavatation plate, is this a long or short shaft? The plate is about 2 inches lower than hull of aluminum boat, is that the right fit?
