I recently replaced the water pump on my 1991 150 Mariner. I installed the slinger inside the "groove" in the upper housing. I've since read the slinger is supposed to go on top of the housing. Will the pump fail if I leave it this way, or do I need to pull the lower unit and change the slinger...
