Ive recently acquired a boat project. Looks like 70-80s but its a cruisers 21ft boat made by mirro marine Division out of Wisconsin. Im looking to convert from inboard to outboard set up. For those who have done the conversion, looking for some feedback. Im debating between DIY outboard pods...
I have the opportunity to pick this one up for $650. According to owner it needs transom rebuild, and may have a running 470 merc. My question is, if I'm going to tear up the transom, would it be a good idea to convert this to a outboard instead? I'm a carpenter by trade so shouldn't be...
Been running my motor this season and never noticed this crack till now when I decided to clean up the outboard. It starts up just fine with no problem, could this be repaired or is it inevitable that I'm looking at a major problem waiting to happen? Can it be repaired or worth repairing it...
Anyone have any idea what make and model this boat is? I have the option to pick this up and could try to restore it for a decent fishing rig? Also if this would be a good candidate for an offshore bracket and minimum HP for it etc.
I've got a 7 1/2 mculloch outboard that starts and idles fine but then dies out after a few seconds. I have to constantly press the primer bulb to feed it gas right before it starts to die in able to keep it running? I checked the fuel tank lines and vent, but no idea as to why it keeps dying...
Okay before I get grilled I'll briefly explain myself =) the boat is old and I'd rather spend money on re-powering the motor later down the road. I'm not trying to look cool, just need something practical so I could attach fising pole holders & specially a bimini top that I can mount to plus...
So I'm still prepping the boat for paint but I have been contemplating on the paint design. My next step after i fill all the unnecessary holes on the deck area and deep gouges and scratches on the sides is to start priming the boat and wet sanding to knock down areas prior to applying finish...
My first boat restoration' and so far I've got a full plate. I'm a carpenter by trade so the finish work shouldn't be too difficult. Although the mechanical side is another story; she is running pretty good so far & that's a relief but she still needs more adjustments and servicing till she can...
I've got a 1979 sun runner with fiberglass floor and has no soft spots. There are predrilled holes with foam on sections of the boat and floor itself. When it rains, there is standing water over on some of the holes. Not sure how the previous owner stored the boat, but when I clear the standing...
Came upon a product by SilverRboard; it's an inch thick material, soppouse to be used for homes to add soundproofing. Wonder if this is a good & cheap alternative for dampening engine noise on a boat. It's got reflective front for heat, moisture resistant also. PRODUCT PRICE @ $25 for 5 sheets...
I took the boat out for a test run yesterday for about 1.5 hr or so and came out pretty well. Anyways, i wasted about an hour or so trying to get the boat started because it wouldn't crank when I turn the key. I played around with the shifter, pulling it out the shifter was a little difficult so...
Its a 1980 mercruiser 470. I've got the entire engine & outdrive serviced, oil & a/f changed, plugs changed, n?w solenoid & ignitor, the boat doesn't wanna start. Confirmed I've got spark on all four cylinder, battery charged & gas in tank. So here lies my next dilemma; like I mentioned on my...
