    Bad CDI?

That would really surprise me. I don't believe the CDI has any temperature input, so it would not have different circuits for when the engine is cold or warm. That means the problem should still (even if intermittently) show up when warm.

Older 9.9 Honda 4 stroke. No spark. Need wiring diagram and/or know-how

Not sure exactly which engine you have. Here are the diagrams that work with the BF75 (8HP) and BF100 (10HP). Depending on the year (or serial #) it could be a points system or CDI

2006 Tohatsu 4hp MFS4BD water pump lower case

Yea, I'm confused too. You should not have to move the lower case to replace the impeller, or do the 'whole' water pump kit.

Honda Bf15a has cover with "2006" stated but not sure of year

Can't help you on the BF15, but a while ago I poked around on the Internet enough and eventually found a chart for the BF10 series (or 9.9)

Nissan 6hp won’t lock in reverse ( prop sucks up )

It's possible the reverse lock clamp (#36 in pic) is either bent or just needs to be lubricated. It is pushed up by the lower shift rod through a hole in the housing when the lower unit is in DRIVE, so that the motor can kick up if it hits something. When shifted to neutral or reverse, the...

    Engine cutting off

One way to check if the vent is actually working... open the vent and put weight on the tank** (just lean on the top with body weight). You should hear air hissing out, and then when you remove your weight the air should hiss back in and the tank revert to it's original shape. If it...

    2020 tohatsu adding electric start

What motor are you talking about? 3.5HP? 5HP? 20HP? You're not going to get decent answers unless folks know which model is being discussed.

    Kohler generator overheat issues?

Have you used an IR gun on the motor to see how hot its actually getting before it shuts down? And is it shutting down itself, or is that when you shut it down when you're done using it?

    Just can't start...?? (5hp 4 stroke)

You might want to post this in the "Honda & Tohatsu/Nissan Outboards" section. Those motors are built by Tohatsu for Mercury. It is an older vintage of that model, judging by the shift on the side. Some internal pictures would tell more, as they changed the ignition design from the initiol...

    BF100 out of time?

I had a problem once where the engine would run on full throttle fine, but at lower throttles and starting was a problem, Cleaned the carb three times with the last one soaking for about 4 hours and still had the problem. Then thought "it must be an ignition issue" and struggled with that...

compression 40 psi after changing head gasket tohatsu

I'm confused on a bunch of levels. The MFS6 is a single cylinder engine (at least I thought they all were). And if it is a four-stroke engine there is a compression-reduction mechanism that will reduce the compression pressure at low RPMs. The spec (IIRC) is around 50 or 55 PSI, so...

What do these 2 rubber hoses go to?

And when you're checking for spark then BOTH plugs need to be "in-circuit" or you need to simulate them being in-circuit. Current/Voltage comes out one side of the coil and needs to get back to the other side of the coil to create a spark. How that works when the engine is working...

What do these 2 rubber hoses go to?

No idea why someone would do that. One of the other reasons for those holes is to let air IN. After the engine is run and gets hot, then shutdown it would draw water UP into the exhaust if those holes weren't there. They provide a "vacuum relief" so the exhaust can't suck water back up...

Intermittent starting problems…How to tell if ignition switch is bad ?

Almost like you answered your own question!! Doubt it's the ignition switch or kill switch, just based on your post. I'd check the connections on the battery and anything between there and the engine to see if there's something loose or corroded.

"glue" for the rubber seal on the base of cowling.

I have a Tohatsu MFS15B2 and wondering what kind of "glue" or sealant I should use to re-affix the rubber gasket or seal around the base of the cowling. The previous owner used some kind of gooey foam that I'm trying to clean up now (what a mess!). Does the OEM just use some kind of...
