Hello,
Can anyone tell me if the lower unit from a '92 DT200 will fit my '98 DT200T? My '98 has a split in the prop housing and I was about to have welded, however I am hoping the '92 will fit and i can get back on the water.
Thanks,
Hi,
I cannot turn off my Suzuki Dt200. Turn the key off- motor keeps running. Pull the lanyard and motor keeps running. I had to place my hand over intake to kill it. Any ideas? I pulled key switch to look for a loose ground but didn't see anything at the key. Anyone know which wire i can check...
Hi,
The tube that allows the water in my cowling to drain appears to be clogged. I have tried to blow it out with my air compressor to no avail. Question: how difficult is it to replace this tube? It runs from the cowling to the foot. Any other suggestions on how to free up any debris?
Thanks...
Tried to turn off motors last weeked and one would not cut off. I turned key off and even pulled kill switch but it still kept running. Guess it's better than not starting but does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance!

I recently rebuilt a '98 20 hp Merc which now runs great. Only problem is the initial start. I have to pull start approx. 20 to 30 times to get the thing started. Once it is started it will start on first pull the rest of the day and run strong all day. I have replaced plugs, rebuilt carb and...
First, I want to say thanks for all the help you guys have offered. I have read insightful information allowing a novice like myself to bring a motor with frozen pistons back to life. Long story short, after putting her all back together- she started on the first try! Problem is after putting...
Bought a '98 Merc 20 for a couple hundred bucks but the pistons were frozen. Removed power head and soaked in mystery oil for two weeks and broke pistons free. Ran a cold compression test and came back 100 psi on cylinder 1 and 92 psi on cylinder 2. Question is, are these compression readings...
HI, Great Forum!
I recently was given a boat with motor but need to repair pull chord recoil. My question is- Can anyone here help me figure out what year, make & model the motor is? The motor have been completely painted white (guess he thought it would look newer). The only information I...
The prop on my 250hp yamaha spins in neutral. It does not appear to affect the performance of the motor (in forward anyway) but the gears grind a bit when I try and put it in reverse. I'm no mechanical genuis but am quite certain that it isn't suppose to do this. It is also a problem when trying...
I have a 23' Seafox WA with a single 250hp Yamaha. I would like to fish offshore but need a kicker for peace of mind. Question is what size motor should I use with this boat. I have seen other boats in the area with as small as 8hp while others carry a 20hp. Will an 8hp do the job if propped...
Hi, I have a 23' walkaround Seafox with a 250HP Yamaha and fish offshore from 20 to 40 miles out. I have always chosen my days carefully and alway run WOT due to the distance to my favorite fish spots. I was recently told by a new fishing buddy that running WOT is terrible for my engine. Is this...
Hi, Can anyone tell me approximately where my engine should be idling? It stalls a lot at idle and idles around 350-400 rpms. Is that low? Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks,

Murray-
Hi, my Yamaha 250 does not want to idle. It is fine when put in gear (forward or reverse) however at idle it will die after 15 seconds to a minute and is followed by what sounds like a short burst of compressed air. Any ideas what would cause this sound? Thanks,

Murray-
Hi, I am relatively new to boating so I want to be extra careful with my motor. I have read a few posts here that mention "Decarbing". What is this and how often should it be done. By the way, this is a very informative site.

Murray-
Hi guys, I just bought a '95 Yamaha 250 from a friend. I have known the guy for a while and also know that the motor has been sitting in his garage for almost 2 yrs. I checked the compression and it was an even 100 psi on all cylinders. I installed it on my boat and it runs like a dream...
