I have just replaced the starter on my 87 3.0. I replaced it because through the forum I realized that I did not have the 4th prong on the solenoid for the purple/yellow wire. I have been stranded before because of low battery issues. Now that I have replaced the starter I get a terrible...

I am replacing the shift cable on my alpha one. My shift cable is so badly crimped and damaged that I am unable to put it in forward gear for outdrive removal. The cable seems to have gotten caught and crimped where the drive pivots for tilt/trim.
I can't get my '87 3.0 to engage in gear. Even when I try to do the proper shift cable adjustment with the shifter in full forward position I can't get the prop to catch while turning it counter clockwise. Last fall I could shift into Forward only, not back to Neutral or Reverse. Please Help!
