Hi, I have a 1983 Mercury 90 6 cylinder 2 stroke outboard. I think the fuel pump diaphragm is bad. Would anyone know where I can get a replacement pump, or a rebuild kit? Number on the pump is 66529
Engine was running perfect, and then all of the sudden started bogging really bad under...
Check out my thread. I had a similar problem with my Mercury 90 6 cyl. (1983). When fuel came out the throats and drained into the well of the boat, my mechanic said that's normal when the motor is put in trailering position because of the angle of the motor. I put a whole can of Seafoam in 6...
Well, I took it to my local mechanic. He works out of his house. Had to drive about 1/4 mile on a washboard dirt road (in the country) When we fired it up, it ran OK, so the washboard must have jostled something. I'll be running it on the lake this Monday, maybe this weekend to give it a try...
But wouldn't it not idle at all if it was stuck floats? That's what has me stumped - my engine idles well. Only acts up with throttle input. I'm pretty good with vintage auto engines, but I'm completely inexperienced with outboard motors,
3 years. He did have fuel stabilizer in it. I don't know if he ran it after putting in the fuel stabilizer to get it into the carbs or not. It just seems strange that it was running perfect and then in one second started running so bad. The fuel dripping out of all 3 carbs is worrisome when...
Need more help. I posted my problem a few weeks ago, but still need more info. I bought this boat with a 1983 Mercury 90 2 stroke. Took it out 2 times. First time it ran great. Second time, after about 20 minutes of running, all of a sudden, it started running really rough and popping. I...
Thank you. That is what I was thinking. Luckily I only ran it a few seconds while it was running rough. It does idle perfectly, so I assume it's a clogged jet, but the idle circuit is not clogged.
Hello,
I recently bought a 15' Invader bowrider with a 1982 Mercury 90 2 stroke. The boat had sat covered for 3 years before I bought it. I drained the old fuel out and filled the tanks with fresh fuel with 50:1 oil mixture. I took the boat out 2 times. The first time it ran perfect. The...
Yes, I have tried searching he net, and I agree that my rollers are not adequate. I'd hate for my hull to be damaged from too much weight on too few points of contact. I may try to make some bunks and get rid of the rollers.
Looks like a similar motor as I have - Mine is a Mercury 90 1982). On mine, you have to mix in 2 stroke oil with the gas. So if you put gas in without oil and there's no separate oil tank with oil in it, unfortunately, the motor is probably ruined. Another thing to look for is the 'telltale'...
I looked at those from Discount, but decided to go with these from Amazon, already mounted on new wheels for less money. Only time will tell how they hold up. My boat is only a 15', so it's not very heavy. I'd think twice about using these if I head a heavy boat.
2-Pk Trailer Tire Rim...
Or even better, place jack stands under the trailer to keep the tires off the ground completely. That way there's no chance of tires getting flat spots.
