Oil pressure switch / oil pressure sender

Thank you, great help! I'll start tomorrow by adding another 20 liters of fuel...gauge shows half, but who knows? Only got the boat a few months ago, and always kept fuel above the half mark, where it currently sits. The gauges are quite old, most of them behave, except the RPM that occasionally...

Oil pressure switch / oil pressure sender

Thank you. Another couple of images of the engine attached. Yes, that's the only place I have hose/tube coming from to the carburetor. Since I have no fuel reaching the carburetor upon manual priming (with the throttle control or right on the carburetor), I'll have to investigate anti syphon...

Oil pressure switch / oil pressure sender

Thank you. That indeed stopped the alarm, and I can now listen when I turn key from OFF to ON. I can hear a single faint click from around the fuel pump every time I turn key to ON, no humming, no turning noise. I suppose I should hear a humming of the pump. If my engine has an electrical fuel...

Oil pressure switch / oil pressure sender

Thanks everyone. It looks like this time I might have a carburetor issue. While previous shutoffs were all sudden and clean, no spluttering, the latest no-start had a little splutter and running for a second or two while key on start. Looking down my carburetor throat and advancing the priming...

Oil pressure switch / oil pressure sender

Hi all, I am investigating previous sudden and clean shutoffs of my VP 3.0 GLP engine. Initially, I suspected fuel pump being shut down by a struggling alternator and a potentially failing bilge blower, this latter knocking down both dashboard and multimeter voltage reading from 14V to 12V while...

Alternator and fuel pump on Volvo Penta 3.0 GLP-D

Apologies, my actual numbers are closer to the ones you mention, yes. Resting battery - it has taken a battering after all the trials and haven't been recharged yet - 12.4 V On alternator - idling only, ~800 RPM, on garden hose - 14.2 V The internal resistance of my bilge blower is 0.6 Ohms...

Alternator and fuel pump on Volvo Penta 3.0 GLP-D

Should read flinches slightly at the trim, 0.5 V, but comes back.

Alternator and fuel pump on Volvo Penta 3.0 GLP-D

Hi all, thank you everyone for your advice. Everyone's suggestions was acted upon, and investigated, (Lou C, alldodge, MarineSp, Grub54891), and all this helped in what it seems is isolating the issue. The culprit seems to be the blower, or some other component on the same circuit. Blower...

Alternator and fuel pump on Volvo Penta 3.0 GLP-D

Thank you. I'll keep checking, and will clean other connections as well. Will attempt disconnecting the bilge blower, to see if that makes a difference. Bilge water pump, nav/anchor lights, drive up/down switch did not have an effect on the voltmeter's 14V, only the bilge blower was knocking it...

Alternator and fuel pump on Volvo Penta 3.0 GLP-D

An update on the above issue. I will probably wait until I can take the boat to the mechanic, as I am afraid of doing further damage....might have already done it. Tried peeling back the insulation tubing on the wire on the right, I stopped at the zip-tie in the image. I will go further once I...

Alternator and fuel pump on Volvo Penta 3.0 GLP-D

Thank you. I have to correct my earlier update. The fused line from Battery+ was not connected to the alternator terminal where the sensing cable connects, but to the sensing cable (brown with white stripe) itself. I am now confused as to how did my engine start and why does my dash voltmeter...

Alternator and fuel pump on Volvo Penta 3.0 GLP-D

Update: connected a fused line from battery plus terminal to the sensing port of the alternator (which shows 0 V, and it should show 12 V), started smoothly, and both dash voltmeter and multi-meter show 14 V. Am I too irresponsible going out to a sea trial? Good weather, member of marine rescue....

Thank you, will work through these steps!

Thank you, hopefully we will up and running, and back to 14 V on the gauge!
