    Mercruiser Alternator Issues and Wiring

Do you have a wiring diagram somewhere showing the Mando specifically? It seems like if I had the ALT to Bat and the ground backwards I would have had major issues before my recent issues.

    Mercruiser Alternator Issues and Wiring

Just to make sure I'm in the same page, I've attached another pic with the wires numbered. 1. Orange, connected to positive stud on alternator 2. Big black, ground, connected to neg stud 3. Red w/purple line, 4. Black (not sure why it's black but it connects to purple) 5. Small black, goes...

    Mercruiser Alternator Issues and Wiring

I've got a Mercruiser 5.7/V8 Alpha One Thunderbolt engine, serial number 0C764258 with a Mando #AR-150 alternator. The boat is over 30 years old and I'm guessing this is the original alternator. I was on a fishing trip this last weekend and had charged the battery prior to leaving. I was...

    1986 Johnson 9.9 J10RCDB main jet

Where's the best place to find them? I googled and didn't seem to be a lot of options.

    1986 Johnson 9.9 J10RCDB main jet

Thanks for the information, appreciate it. But it appears that mine may be different. As you can see in the pics I have the nozzle about half way into the venturi but the small holes aren't exposed like the others above. With it inserted half way like pictured it is also very loose, like it's...

    1986 Johnson 9.9 J10RCDB main jet

K bait, any idea how far the nozzle is supposed to extrude into the carb? You were right, it's not threaded. I've got to figure out how it's seated in there but need to know how far it needs to be pressed in. Thanks.

quite positive it is. I'll have to dig into it and see if I can swap. And not take that nozzle out this time.......Doh.

    1986 Johnson 9.9 J10RCDB main jet

I actually have an Evinrude 15hp, it's what I use now. It's kind of beat up so maybe I'll throw the 15hp carb onto the 9.9. I've seen/read quite a bit on the converting the 9.9 to 15. Is it as easy as swapping the carb?

Accidentally removed nozzle from Johnson 9.9 carb

Long story short, I thought the nozzle that connects the the float bowl to the carb was the main jet and I twisted it loose. I know, rookie mistake but what's done is done. How do I get it back in? My assumption was it was threaded but I can't seem to twist and get threads to grab. Just want to...

    1986 Johnson 9.9 J10RCDB main jet

Okay kbait, I ended up doing exactly what you told me not to do. I had turned it prior to my original post, so I proceeded to turn it to make sure it was seated correctly........ And I turned it all the way out. Rookie mistake, I know. I think the issue is it is threaded from the top so instead...

Thanks. I definitely twisted that brass nozzle. Will that cause issues?

    1986 Johnson 9.9 J10RCDB main jet

My grandpa passed away a couple years ago and while cleaning up some of his stuff last week I found an old Johnson 9.9 in a corner and my grandma told me to take it and get it running. After a little bit I got the darn thing started, couldn't believe it. I'm getting into the carb, cleaning it...

What's the "next best" way? :) Is there a decent way to do it on the engine?

    Extreme rust removal tips

I wasn't really sure where to post this question but since it's on a mercruiser motor I thought I'd post it here. I've removed the manifolds on a 1990 mercruiser 5.7. Previous owner had cracks in the manifolds but ran it for years without repairing it (I believe they tried welding them at some...
