Complete Water Pump change out for 1969 1C. Removed gear assembly and pump top. Not only is the pump base stuck, it's aluminum, not plastic, I as would have expected. I certainly have not heard of any water pump bases being aluminum, and my only guess is that this is the original 45 year-old...
Replacing water pump in 1969 1C and after removing lower unit, noticed what looks like a 3/8 brass drain plug just below the top flange at the front of the housing. After pulling the lower housing, I see the plug leads to the cavity just in front of the lower shift shaft and bushing. Not sure...
